Service 05
Gully and riverbank interventions that treat the cause, not the symptom.
Introduction
Gully erosion in southeastern Nigeria is a hydrological problem expressed as a geotechnical failure. Concrete placed into an active gully without addressing the upstream flow that created it will fail, usually within one or two rainy seasons.
B-CIJVAL designs erosion works from the catchment down: intercept and control the runoff, dissipate its energy, stabilise the channel geometry, then protect the exposed surfaces, combining engineered structures with vegetative and nature-based measures where they perform.
Our Process
Runoff sources, contributing area and gully head migration rate.
Soil erodibility, slope stability and collapse potential.
Flow control, energy dissipation and channel capacity.
Retaining works, drop structures, gabions and revetments.
Phased works sequenced around the rainy season.
Vegetative cover, monitoring and maintenance handover.
